Golf... - Posted on: 8/25/2020   [Golf]

I finished the first course on the larger terrain...

It's still really rough, but its a good base to work with. I had an accident where the terrain got flattened and wouldn't Undo, fortunately I had recently exported the heightmap, so I only lost a little time. I set quick position arrays for the tee and hole positions and cycled through each hole on the course. It's working great!

I have one issue with the Camera. Apparently, when you deactivate the camera, then move its position, then reactivate it again, there's a big lag, caused by the camera redrawing the terrain details. I don't know if there's a solution for that. However, I've been intending to replace the camera map with a flat image, instead of rending the actual scenery... that means the map won't show certain objects or details, but it will be far more efficient.

For the camera map positioning, I came up with a straight-forward solution where I automatically center its position between the hole and tee and base its height on the distance between them.
