While studying golf photos, another thing I noticed was the textures.... |
My textures have bump maps, but most are just auto-generated, and don't have much depth. So I spent a few hours looking through hundreds of PBR materials trying to find some that would add a little height to the grass textures.
The fairway texture looks the best - it's a mix of fur and dirt bump maps. I made a few other cosmetic changes and much happier with the way its looking now.

The creation of the first course was mostly improvised. I'm trying to plan the second course better, by starting with an overhead drawing, then I'll use that as a rough template for the course when I paint the textures and heights in Unity. | |
